CONWAY, S.C.– The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team earned the No. 5 seed in the 2022 Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament that will get underway tomorrow, April 25, in Huntsville, Ala.
The Chanticleers finished the regular season at 18-14 overall.
CCU will play No. 4 UAB in the first round on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET.
The Chants are led by the pair of
Ellie Hanford and
Natalie Honzovicova who went 18-4 on the season at the second and third flights. Also leading the way is the duo of
Sarah Riedell and
Martine Kragholm, who went 10-10 on the season playing matches at the top flight. The other team to have double-digit wins on the season is
Raychel Ehlers and
Carli Ginther who played at the fourth and fifth flights, going 12-8 overall for the year.
The 2022 Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship is set to begin Thursday, April 28, with seven teams squaring off in a double-elimination bracket. The three-day event, hosted by Conference USA, CCSA, and Rally Sports, will open up with five matches on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. ET at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala.
This is the league's inaugural season of beach volleyball with FIU, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss, UAB, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, and ULM.
The conference championship match is slated for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 30.
