Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at the Ironwood Invitational

Chants shoot even-par 288 in final round

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team shot an even-par 288 over the final 18 holes at the Ironwood Invitational to finish ninth with a 24-over 888 (296-304-288) on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Freshman Sara Sarrion not only finished the round with CCU's best score, she was the Chants' low scorer for the event. Sarrion shot a team-best two-under 70 in today's action to finish the event tied for 11th with a one-over 217 (74-73-70).
 
Sophia Carlsen and Jenjira Jinangkul had their best rounds of the two-day event. Carlsen shot an even-par 72 in today's round to finish tied for 36th with an eight-over 224 (74-78-72). Jinangkul also shot an even-par in her round to finish the event tied for 48th with an 11-over 227 (78-77-72).
 
Caitlin Evans-Brand also turned in her best scorecard of the Invite with a two-over 74 in today's action. She finished with a 10-over 226 (76-76-74) and is tied for 44th.
 
Tiffany Arafi shot a six-over 78 in the final round to finish with a 13-over 229 (72-79-78). She finished tied for 53rd. Maike Llarena shot an eight-over 80 in the final round to finish the event tied for 68th with a 20-over 236 (78-78-80).
 
The College of Charleston entered the final round with a four-stroke lead and pushed that lead to seven in picking up the Ironwood Invitational title. The Cougars finished with a two-under 862. Charlotte finished second with a five-over 869, while James Madison was two strokes back at seven-over 871. Host East Carolina finished fourth at eight-over 872. Campbell and North Florida finished tied for fifth at 11-over 875.
 
Ohio State (+16, 880), and South Florida (+21, 885) finished just in front of the Chants, while Augusta (+27, 891), Western Kentucky (+42, 906), Richmond (+54, 918), and High Point (+60, 924) completed the field.
 
This was the final regular season match for the Chanticleers. CCU's next event will be the 2022 Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship, which will be held April 17-19 at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
