MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team is in 16th place after the second round of the Rivertowne Invitational, after shooting an 18-over 306 in Monday's second round at the Rivertowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The Chants stand 29-over 598 (299-306) after the first two rounds.
Sara Sarrion continued her solid event after shooting a team-best one-under 71 in Monday's action. Her two-day score of even-par 144 (73-71) has moved her into a tie for 13th, only four strokes off the lead. Her consistent play saw her finish the day with 15 pars, two birdies, and only one bogey.
Isabella Galla had an up-and-down day, finishing with a six-over 78 in Monday's round. She did have three birdies on the day and her eight-over 152 (74-78) has her tied for 59th heading into the final round.
Luisa Gibson stands tied for 63rd with a two-day total of nine-over 153 (76-77).
Isabella Spinazze is tied for 77th with a 13-over 157 (76-81) and
Clare Gimpel is tied for 85th with an 18-over 162 (80-82).
Tulane took over the top spot on the leaderboard and is the only team under par with a three-under 573. After the Green Wave it is a closely matched field as only 16 shots separate teams two through 18.
Boston College, the opening day leader, fell to second and has a two-over 578 score. Host Charleston Southern is third (+3, 579), followed by High Point (+4, 580) and Morehead State (+6, 582).
Elon leads of the second five with a score of 10-over 586. Lipscomb (+12, 588), North Alabama (+15, 588), and Richmond (+16, 592) follow, Jacksonville, Western Carolina, and UNCA are all tied for 10th after carding two-day totals of 17-over 593.
USC Upstate is only one shot behind the trio at 18-over 594. Seton Hall and Longwood are tied with a team-score of 22-over 598. The Chanticleers are next with their 29-over 605, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson (+31, 607), Winthrop (+72, 678), and The Citadel (+108, 684), who round out the field.
