AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team finished 14th at the Valspar Augusta Invitational after Sunday's final round was rained out. The Chanticleers shot a 42-over 618 (315-303) over the first two rounds played on Saturday.
Sara Sarrion shot a six-over 150 (75-75) to finish tied for 48th. She led the team with five birdies in Saturday's action.
Luisa Gibson finished one stroke back after firing a seven-over 151 (77-74) to end the invitational tied for 53rd.
Clare Gimpel finished the two rounds tied for 67th after shooting a 12-over 156 (77-79), while
Maika Llarena finished 74th after carding a 17-over 161 (86-75).
Isabella Galla finished 77th with her 25-over 169 (87-82).
The nations' second-ranked team Wake Forest was named the tournament champion after scoring a 13-under 563 in Saturday's action. Host Augusta finished second on the team leaderboard with a two-under 574, while Florida State was one spot back after scoring a one-under 575.
Those were the only three teams to break par, while Ole Miss and Florida tied for fourth after each shot a one-over 577.
South Florida (+7, 583), Oklahoma State (+9, 585), Duke (+12, 588), Alabama (+15, 591), and Minnesota (+17, 593) made up the second five teams, while rounding out the field was Furman (+23, 599), Georgia Southern (+25, 601), Virginia Tech (+29, 605), and CCU.
The Chants will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Florida State Match Up, scheduled for March 17-19 at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
