TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team is in 12th place after the first round of the FSU Match Up, having shot a 40-over 328 in Friday's first round. The par-72, 6,250 yards Seminole Legacy Golf Course played exceptionally hard during the opening round, as only host Florida State finished under par on its home course.
Junior
Luisa Gibson (37-38) paced the Chants with a three-over 75 and stands tied for 19th heading into Saturday's second round.
Maika Llarena shot a nine-over 81 (38-43) and is tied for 48th.
Clare Gimpel is tied for 59th after carding a 12-over 84 (39-45), while
Isabella Spinazze finished 64th with her 88 (43-45) and
Elan Fleetwood is 65th after carding an 89 (41-48).
Florida State's one-under 287 was the only score under par and is four strokes better than second-place Tulane (+3, 291). A tight top-five scoring continues with Kentucky (+4, 292) in third, followed by Kent State (+6, 294), and Augusta (+8, 296).
Two strokes separate Purdue (+12, 300) and Oklahoma (+14, 302) with the rest of the field including East Tennessee State (+23, 311), Notre Dame (+28, 316), Daytona State College (+32, 320), and Mercer (+39, 327) just one stroke in front of the Chants.
