DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team sits in 12th place overall with a two-round score of 46-over 622 at the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship after shooting a 24-over 312 in the second round at the LPGA International Hills Course in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Monday.
Monday's action saw the round get started before rain moved into the area, causing a suspension of play.
Sara Sarrion (74-75) leads the Chants with a five-over 149 heading into the final round, where she is tied for 17th. She leads the championship in par-3 scoring with a 2.75 scoring average, is tied for ninth in par-5 scoring with a 5.00 scoring average, and has carded 25 total pars over the 36-holes, which ranks eighth among the tournament field.
Luisa Gibson (74-77) stands tied for 27th after the second round with a seven-over 151. She has 26 pars over the first two rounds, which is tied for fifth.
Maika Llarena (79-80) is tied for 45th with a 15-over 159, while
Isabella Spinazze (83-80) is tied for 53rd at 19-over 163 and
Clare Gimpel (86-86) is 61st with a 28-over 172.
ULM started the second round in second place but moved into the lead with a five-over in today's action, which was the best round of the day. The Warhawks (+8, 584) are three strokes in front of Texas State (+11, 587), the first-round leader. Arkansas State (+16, 592) is third, followed by Georgia Southern (+18, 594) and South Alabama (+26, 602) to round out the top five.
Troy, JMU, and Georgia State are all tied for sixth after each team has carded a 27-over 603. ODU (+29, 605) is just two strokes back and Southern Miss (+34, 610) is next. Marshall (+45, 621) is just one stroke ahead of the Chants (+46, 622), followed by Appalachian State (+61, 637).
The final round is scheduled to begin Tuesday, April 18, at 8 a.m. ET.
