FOLEY, Ala. – The Coastal Carolina women's cross country team placed fourth at the Sun Belt Championships while the men took eighth on Friday morning at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley, Ala.
Two Chanticleer women and one Coastal man earned All-SBC honors, with
Molly Jones and
Addison Laughlin receiving the distinction for the women, and
Adam Groves claiming the award for the men by placing inside the top-21.
Additionally, Jones was honored with the women's SBC Elite Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating on the final day for each of the Sun Belt Conference's championships.
Jones led the way in fifth, finishing the 5k course in 17:31.3. She was followed nine spots behind by Laughlin (18:06.4).
Jenna Lang (18:41.4),
Amilia Wise-Sweat (18:45.5), and
Bethany Simpson (19:07.9) were 29th, 32nd, and 50th, respectively, to round out the scoring.
Olivia Goeser (19:14.8),
Erin McQuitty (19:36.2), and
Taylor Houston (19:53.2) also raced for the Chants.
The men were led by Groves, who finished the 8k race in 25:19.0 to take 15th place.
Garrett Ricardo was 29th overall in 26:12.2, followed by
Tomas Duncan in 49th (27:31.7) and
Dylan Payer in 50th (27:33.4).
Sterling Sellier was the Chanticleers' fifth scorer in 52nd (27:47.7).
Trey Kraimer (27:55.3) and
Ethan Blackwelder (28:20.6) also competed for Coastal.
