ELON, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team suffered a narrow defeat to the Elon Phoenix this afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C. 

The Phoenix took the opening doubles point, despite Carlos Berna Ruiz and Lucas Wayenburg extending their doubles win tally with a 7-6 win over Ben Zipay and Juan Sengariz. Coastal dropped the following two doubles matches, both in a final point tiebreaker, as Elon took an early 1-0 lead heading into singles play. 

CCU won three of the six singles matchups with the second-seeded Berna Ruiz, the fourth-seeded Guilherme Toresan and the sixth-seeded Juan Cruz Collardin each recording a straight-set victory. The Phoenix took the first, third and fifth-seeded matches, resulting in a 4-3 win for the home side. 

Next up for the Chants is a trip to Buies Creek, N.C. as they take on Campbell on Tuesday, Mar. 26 at 2:30 P.M. ET.
