WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team got back to an even .500 this afternoon with a 5-2 win on the road over the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in Wilmington, N.C.
The Chants began the afternoon with a sweep of the doubles point, taking a commanding 1-0 lead in the early going. Anna Babayan and Jesse Hollins continued their dominant run of play, moving their season win tally to seven in eight matches. Kata Foldeak and Cecile Morin and Nicole Abel and Aida Maria Mitrache also added to their doubles win total, defeating their opponents 6-2 and 6-1, respectively.
In singles play, Coastal took four of six, with all four coming in straight sets. Babayan, Hollins, Foldeak and Morin all helped secure the outright win for CCU, putting the Chants at 4-4 heading into conference play.
Following today's big win over Wilmington, the Chants will open Sun Belt Conference play on Saturday, Mar. 9 against the Georgia State Panthers at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
