CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are returning to Columbia, S.C. this weekend to compete in the Weems Baskin Invitational at the Creeger track on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
The Chants are coming off back-to-back weekends at home with the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge and the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, both at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C. In the Myrtle Beach Challenge, CCU put together a 12-top place finishes performance on the opening day, including sophomore AJ McKay Jr. And freshman Ebba Hedberg placing first and third, respectively, in the meet's MVP race. As a team, CCU finished atop the overall leaderboard in both the men's and women's events. Day two of the meet was canceled due to inclement weather in the Myrtle Beach area.
In the latter, Coastal also finished atop the overall leaderboard for both the men's and women's competitions. The Chants picked up another 12 top-place finishes in the Alan Connie Invitational and 39 placements inside the top-10.
This weekend, the Chants will compete against 23 different schools, including Sun Belt Conference rival App State, ACC powerhouse Virgina Tech, as well as Charlotte and host South Carolina.
The Weems Baskin Invitational will open tomorrow at 12 P.M. ET with the men's and women's field events.
