CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team (11-6, 5-2 SBC) returned to the Stevens Tennis Complex today to host ULM (1-15, 0-7 SBC), defeating the Warhawks 7-0 to improve to 5-2 in conference play.
The Chants secured their second consecutive sweep in Sun Belt Conference, previously defeating Southern Miss on Mar. 30 in a 7-0 win over the Golden Eagles. Today against ULM, Coastal refused to surrender a single point to the Warhawks, winning two of three in doubles and taking all six singles points.
No. 1 doubles team Anna Babayan and Jesse Hollins secured their 12th doubles win of the season as a pairing, taking down ULM's No. 1 seed Tamara Bachmann and Alice Klinteby 6-3. Nicole Abel and Brooke Rogers claimed the opening doubles point for Coastal after beating ULM's No. 3 seeded team 6-2.
CCU extended their overall winning streak to three after taking all six points from singles play with five of the wins coming in straight sets. Abel, Hollins, Kata Foldeak, Cecile Morin and Aida Maria Mitrache each added to their singles win tallies by closing out the match in the second set. With their wins today, Hollins and Foldeak continue to extend their personal singles winning streaks, as they improve to 10 and six, respectively. Babayan was forced into a third set by Klinteby, but later came away with her second win of the day, winning 10-2 in the final set tiebreaker.
The Chants will look to continue their winning streak, as they are back at home against the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Sunday, Apr. 7 at 10 A.M. ET at the Stevens Tennis Complex for their final home match of the 2024 season.
