MONROE, LA. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's outdoor track and field teams finished seventh and 10th after the final day of competition at the Sun Belt Conference Championships at the Groseclose Track in Monroe, La.
Yesterday, the Chants, on day two, CCU added another 20 top-10 finishers to their credit, improving their total to 31 for the first two days of the meet, highlighted by senior Garrett Ricardo and Amanda Kinloch taking the top spots in the preliminary events of the men's 800m and the women's 100m hurdles with final times of 1:52.29 and 13:25, respectively.
Kinloch followed up her performance yesterday by once again claiming the top spot, and the gold medal, in the women's 100m hurdles with a final time of 13.53, finishing just ahead of Georgia State's Kayli Williams.
After placing second and third in the men's 200m and 400m preliminaries yesterday, Genson Hooper Price secured the gold medal this afternoon in the 400m finals by running a personal-best 46.09 time to claim his first ever Sun Belt title.
Along with Kinloch and Hooper Price, Coastal also recorded eight podium placements. On the women's side, junior Camryn Lorick finished second in the high jump finals with a career-best 1.76m final distance. For the men's team, senior Braydon Bennett placed second in the 110m finals, sophomore Deondre Hardy finished third in the 100m and 200m finals with a personal-best time in both events, Ricardo took bronze in the 800m and the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams finished second and third in their respective events.
