BLACKSBURG, Va. — Coastal Carolina women's basketball fell 82–59 to Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Chanticleers, who drop to 2–3 on the season.
COASTAL LEADERS
Coming off the bench, Tracey Hueston led Coastal with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting while adding five rebounds. Kristin Williams added 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, and D'Yanis Jimenez chipped in 10 points along with six assists.
GAME RECAP
Virginia Tech opened the game on a strong note, taking a 30–13 lead after one quarter. Despite being outrebounded 10–4 in the period, the Hokies' pressure forced 10 turnovers in the first 10 minutes. They extended their lead to 53–29 at halftime.
Coastal responded with a strong defensive effort in the third quarter, holding Virginia Tech to just four points. However, the Hokies pulled away late and capitalized throughout the game, finishing with 31 points off turnovers.
TEAM STATS
Coastal shot 46.9 percent from the field (23-for-49) and went 5-for-12 from three-point range (41.7 percent). The Chants outrebounded Virginia Tech 33–32 and recorded 26 bench points. Defensively, Coastal forced 17 turnovers but committed 27 of their own.
