CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina erupted for 68 first-half points and rolled to a 121–44 victory over Virginia University of Lynchburg on Friday night at the HTC Center, earning its first win of the season before 2,230 fans.
The Chanticleers (1–1) shot 55 percent from the field and hit a school and facility-record 17 three-pointers while out-rebounding the Dragons 75–27. Ten different players scored at least eight points, and Coastal's bench poured in 62.
Graduate transfer
Jerry Ngopot led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, going 8-of-13 from the floor with three triples. Junior guard
AJ Dancler recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards, while freshman
Tristan Thompson matched scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including three from long range

Braeden MacVicar tallied 13 rebounds and eight points, while
Joshua Beadle dropped in 12 points, and
Derrick Green, and
Reggie Hill each added 10.
Rasheed Jones finished with eight points and a team-high six assists as the Chanticleers totaled 23 assists on 46 made field goals

Coastal dominated from the outset, opening the game on a 24–7 run and leading 68–12 at halftime after holding the Dragons to 4-of-40 shooting in the first 20 minutes. The Chants' defensive pressure produced eight steals and 21 points off turnovers.
Virginia-Lynchburg (0-1) was paced by Isaiah Davis and Michael Corrigan, who each scored eight points. The Dragons shot just 18.5 percent overall and 17.4 percent from beyond the arc.
The Chanticleers scored 52 points in the paint and outscored VUL 30–2 on fast breaks. Coastal also tallied 20 second-chance points and limited the Dragons to just three.
Coastal Carolina continues its homestand on Tuesday when it hosts former Big South rival Winthrop at HTC Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
