CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team defeated the College of Charleston Cougars 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon in Charleston, S.C.
"Charleston really got on top of us and made us earn this one today," state head coach
Chris Powers. "Credit to them for being ready to compete in doubles but we fought to the end and managed to get the fourth point. Huge clinch for Jack!"
- The Chants dropped the doubles point, falling on both courts No. 2 and No. 3 by a score of 6-3.
- After dropping a match on singles court No. 2, Coastal's Iannis Fernandes, Emiliano Gonzalez Balmaceda, and Christopher Norlin flipped the momentum, winning singles matches on courts No. 6, 5, and 4, respectively, to take a 3-2 lead.
- The Cougars leveled the score at 3-3 when Mattia Bernardi came out on top in a three-set battle versus Juan Cruz Collardin in the No. 1 spot.
- Transfer Jack Dixon was Coastal's hero, rallying from a set down to clinch the match for the Chanticleers.
