POINT CLEAR, A.L. – The Chanticleer women's golf team dropped the semifinal round of match play 3-2 to Southern Miss in the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship on Thursday at The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, A.L. Southern Miss advanced to the championship round to play Georgia Southern.
The match was decided in the final pairing, as Carolina Hortian battled until the final hole but came up two shots short of Southern Miss' Taylor Trible. Coastal's two winning players were Sara Sarrion, who defeated Southern Miss' Louise Cuyvers by three shots, and Varatkarn Kunkaew, who took down Southern Miss' Alma Betoret de Salazar also by three shots.
Ella Murray fell in her match to the Golden Eagles' Elena Melich by three shots. Aoife Devaney also lost by four shots to Southern Miss' Momoka Ando, who took home the individual championship in stroke play as well.
