NEW ORLEANS, La. – Coastal Carolina's No. 4 pairing of senior Raychel Ehlers and sophomore Ava Novello have been named the Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week, as announced by league officials on Wednesday.
The weekly honor is the first for the Chants this season and second of Ehlers career after winning Pair of the Week with Madison Allred in 2024. This marks the seventh time in program history that a pair has won a conference weekly award and the fourth Sun Belt Pair of the Week award in program history.
Ehlers and Novello swept the weekend at the Palmetto Invitational in Columbia, S.C. with wins over Jacksonville (21-13, 21-17), No. 15 Georgia State (21-19, 21-14), No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast (21-19, 21-12), and South Carolina (17-21, 21-18, 15-10). Coastal Carolina took down No. 15 Georgia State 3-2 to clinch the Sun Belt regular season title.
With Ehlers' win over Jacksonville, she became the winningest player in Coastal Carolina beach volleyball history, passing Ellie Hanford (2021-2024) with her 94th career individual victory.
The duo ended the regular season with an 18-7 overall record, going 13-6 on court 4 and 5-1 on court 5.
The Chants (20-12, 6-0 SBC) will hold the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament in Foley, Ala. later this week. The first match is set for 4 p.m. Thursday against the winner of No. 4 Mercer vs. No. 5 ULM.
