CONWAY, S.C. — No. 14 Coastal Carolina continued its dominant stretch with a 10-0 run-rule victory over ULM in seven innings on Friday night at Springs Brooks Stadium.
The Chanticleers (40-11, 22-4 Sun Belt) notched their 10th straight win overall, 14th consecutive Sun Belt victory, and seventh-straight conference series win.
Jacob Morrison (9-0) tossed six shutout innings of one-hit ball to lead a Coastal staff that faced just four batters over the minimum. Offensively, the Chants exploded for 14 hits, including three from
Colby Thorndyke, who doubled twice, scored three runs, and drove in two.
Caden Bodine added two hits and two RBIs, while
Walker Mitchell,
Chad Born, and
Sebastian Alexander each contributed run-scoring hits. Coastal scored in every inning and Alexander's RBI single ended the game with one out in the bottom of the seventh via the 10-run rule.
ULM (21-29, 7-19 SBC) managed just one hit — a sixth-inning single — against Morrison,
Chance Mako, and
Matt Joyce.
The Chanticleers improved to 23-3 at home this season and will look to complete the sweep Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.

SERIES STREAK: Coastal Carolina has won seven straight Sun Belt series, 14-consecutive SBC games and 10 games in-a-row overall.
MORRISON MOWS: Jacob Morrison improved to
9-0, delivering 6.0 innings with just
one hit, one walk, and
six strikeouts. His ERA is now 1.84 over 73.1 innings this season.
WALK-OFF VIA MERCY: The game ended early on
Sebastian Alexander's RBI single in the bottom of the 7th. It marked Coastal's
sixth run-rule win of the year and fourth in Sun Belt play.
THORNDYKE'S THREE: Colby Thorndyke went 3-for-4 with
two doubles and a pair of RBIs. He now has
12 doubles this season and is batting .290.
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: With the win, Coastal Carolina is now
23-3 at Springs Brooks Stadium this season and
13-1 at home in conference play.
OVER THE HILL: The Chants reached the 40-win plateau in the regular season for the first time since 2016. The 2016 team reached the milestone in game 55, while the 2025, 2008 and 2005 teams needed 51 games. The 2007 team hit 40 wins in 50 games and the 2010 team hit the mark in 47 games.
SPRING EXCELLENCE: The Coastal softball squad won their 40th game of the season today on the way to a Sun Belt Tournament Championship appearances Saturday, making Coastal Carolina and Arkansas the only two D1 schools to hit the 40-win mark in both softball and baseball as of May 9, 2025.
