RICHMOND, Va. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team downed the Richmond Spiders 1–0 in its season opener on Sunday afternoon in Richmond, Va.

• Tamlyn Parkes found the top-right corner to give the Chants a 1–0 lead in the sixth minute off an assist from Eleanor Ashton
• Coastal led the first frame 5–1 in shots
• Stella Lawson forced the only save of the first half
• Goalkeeper Aris Lamanna tallied six saves in the match and earned her fourth career clean sheet
• Eight Coastal players in Petra Helmeczi, Matilda Larsson, Dolcie O'Connor, Cansu Kara, Leah Crotty, Marin Fisher, Sophie Redner, and Jasmine Ouatu made their Coastal debut
• Sophomore Eefje Botjer was Coastal's lone field player to play the full 90 minutes
• The Chants were outshot 9–7 and trailed 10–3 in corner kicks at the final whistle
• Parkes and Jasmine Ouatu led the Chanticleer offense with two shots apiece

The Chanticleers will be back in action on Aug. 21 to take on UNCW at 7 p.m. ET at the CCU Soccer Complex.
