Melissa Jefferson-Wooden Wins National Titles in 100 and 200 meters

Eugene, Ore. - Melissa Jefferson-Wooden became the first woman since 2003 to win the national title in the 100 and 200 meters this weekend at the Toyota USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. 

The former Chanticleer ran a personal-best in the 200 meters with a time of 21.84 on Sunday. Jefferson-Wooden ran a personal-best 10.65 in the 100 meters on Friday, the fastest time in the world this year and the fifth-fastest all-time. 

Jefferson-Wooden will represent Team USA at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo from September 13th-21st.

The Georgetown, South Carolina native competed for the Chanticleers from 2019 to 2022 and won the outdoor national championship in 2022 in the 100 meters and indoor national championship in the 60 meters.
