Volleyball Travels to NC State For The Wolfpack Invitational

CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina volleyball is on the road for the second straight weekend as it heads back north across state lines for the Wolfpack Invitational at NC State. The Chanticleers will open the tournament on Friday at 3 p.m. when they take on 2024 Horizon League champion Cleveland State. Play continues Saturday when CCU faces Utah Valley. The tournament concludes Sunday at 4 p.m. with a match against host NC State. Sunday's match against NC State will be streamed on ACCNX.

SERIES HISTORIES  
Cleveland State/Utah Valley
: The Chants are facing both the Vikings and Wolverines for the first time this weekend.
NC State: The Chanticleers defeated NC State, 3-2, at Reynolds Coliseum last season to tie the all-time series at 2-2.  Jalyn Stout posted a triple-double in last season's meeting: 11 kills, 27 assists, 13 digs. Emily Fowler had 10 kills, Emma Van Elslande collected 10 digs. Coastal is 2-1 against the Wolfpack in Raleigh and 0-1 in Conway.

QUICK GLANCE: CLEVELAND STATE
• The Vikings are off to a 0-6 start this season after posting a 23-10 campaign a year ago and winning the Horizon League championship to reach the NCAA Tournament. Cleveland State was picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League this season, garnering two first-place votes.
• CSU returns eight members from last year's championship team. Included in this group is All-Horizon honoree Laken Voss, along with starters JeriLynn Koehler and Vayda Delventhal. Joining the Vikings for the 2025 campaign are six true freshmen and one senior transfer.
• Bryn VanVleet leads the Vikings with in points (49/3.06) and kills (47/2.94). Isabella Gibbons is their top assist distributor (89/5.93), and Delventhal is their leading defensive player (91 digs/4.79). Julia Jozefov leads the Vikings with 13 blocks.

QUICK GLANCE: UTAH VALLEY
• The Wolverines enter play this weekend with an overall record of 3-4 following their loss to No. 22 Utah, 3-1, on Tuesday. Utah Valley will play at Duke on Friday before facing off against the Chants on Saturday.
• Utah Valley was picked to win the Western Athletic Conference by the conference coaches in the poll. The Wolverines garnered five of the seven first-place votes for a total of 34 points.
• Utah Valley leads the nation in total blocks (86). It ranks fifth nationally in blocks per set (3.19) through matches played Sept. 9. Bella Wooten leads all Division I players with 50 total blocks, and her 1.85 blocks per set ranks fourth nationally.
• Natalie Riggs is one of the top servers in the country. She ranks fourth in total service aces (19) and 20th in aces per set (0.70).

QUICK GLANCE: NC STATE
• The Wolfpack enters the weekend's tournament with a record of 5-1 following its win against South Carolina at Reynolds Coliseum on Wednesday. NC State will face Cleveland State on Saturday before taking on the Chants on Sunday.
• Senior Courtney Bryant (58/2.52) and freshman Jordan Smith (52/2.26) rank one and two on the team in kills and kills per set. Bryant leads the ACC  in aces per set (0.65).
• Defensively, freshman Zuzanna Maciejewicz leads the Wolfpack with 104 digs, averaging 4.37 per set, which is the fourth-highest average in the ACC. Fellow freshman Talia Francom is the Pack's leading blocker with 21.0 (1.17 per set).

GOING FOR FOUR IN A ROW: A win over Cleveland State on Friday would give Coastal Carolina its first four-match winning streak since winning 13 straight Sun Belt Conference matches in 2023. It would be the Chants' first four-match non-conference winning streak since 2021, when they posted four consecutive victories over UTSA, East Carolina, Radford, and UNCW.

NICE TO MEET YOU: Coastal Carolina is playing three first-time opponents this season, including two this weekend at the Wolfpack Invitational: Cleveland State and Utah Valley. Last weekend, it played Delaware State for the first time and beat the Hornets in three sets.

MORE TOURNEY OPPONENTS: Coastal will be facing its fourth and fifth 2024 NCAA Tournament teams this weekend, Cleveland State and NC State. The Chants are 1-2 against NCAA Tournament teams so far in 2025, defeating Delaware State after suffering back-to-back losses to North Carolina and South Carolina.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
• Junior Jalyn Stout has posted a double-double in 26 straight matches dating back to last season. She has double-digit kills in four matches, double-figure assists in five matches, and double-digit digs in four matches through the first six matches of the 2025 season.
• She set the NCAA single-season record for double-doubles last season with 26, while also producing an NCAA record 20 triple-doubles.
• Stout has recorded 57 career double-doubles, posting 25 as a freshman in addition to 26 last season and six this year.
