CONWAY — Coastal Carolina women's basketball (7-8, 0-3) lost to Marshall (12-3, 3-0) 87-85 in overtime on Thursday at the HTC Center. The Chanticleers dropped to 0-3 in conference play with the loss.
GAME RECAP
The game was tight all the way through with Coastal grabbing their first lead off a layup by
Kinsea Grimes with 4:03 left in the second quarter to go on top 30-29. The game was tied 34-34 at the end of the first half. Both teams traded leads in the third with the Thundering Herd entering the final quarter up 54-52. The Chants tied it up at 76 off a jumper by
Paige Bradley with 34 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. With six seconds remaining in overtime, Marshall's Peyton Ilderton collected a steal and drove down the court to make a layup with a second left to give the Thundering Herd an 87-85 win.
COASTAL LEADERS
For the third straight game,
Kristin Williams scored 20 or more points with a 20-piece off five three's and five free throws.
Tracey Hueston finished with 16 points in her 25 minutes while Bradley posted her second double-double of the season with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. As a team, Coastal shot 39-percent from the field and 39-percent from long-range while making 28 of 36 free throw attempts.

Coastal continues conference play with Georgia Southern on Saturday, Jan. 3 at the HTC Center. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after the men's game concludes on ESPN+.
