CONWAY — Coastal Carolina women's basketball was defeated by Troy 88-77 on Friday afternoon in the HTC Center. Coastal Carolina (11-12, 4-7) saw their two-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
GAME RECAP
Coastal scored the first eight points of the game before the Trojans hit their first shot almost four minutes into the game. The Chants held a 15-11 advantage after the first quarter before Troy scored 28 points in the second to take a 39-31 lead into halftime. Coastal tied the game at 43 with 5:40 left in the third after a layup by
Tessa Grady, and would later take a 51-50 lead courtesy of a three-pointer by
Kinsea Grimes. Grady knocked down another three to give the Chants a 56-55 lead entering the fourth. The Trojans exploded for 33 points in the final period to run away with an 88-77 victory.
COASTAL LEADERS
Grady connected on nine of her 12 shots including five three-pointers to lead the team with a career-high 25 points. Grimes provided 23 points while also making five three's. As a team, Coastal shot 43-percent from the field and 40-percent from long-range while making 11 of 17 free throw attempts.
