BOONE, N.C. — Coastal Carolina women's basketball (8-9, 1-4) dominated Appalachian State (7-7, 0-4) 69-53 on Wednesday night at the Holmes Convocation Center. It was the Chanticleer's first conference win of the season.
GAME RECAP
Coastal opened the gate with a dominant first quarter, holding the Mountaineers to just five points and scoring 23 of their own to take a commanding lead. The Chants continued the pressure in the second, taking a 41-21 lead into halftime. Coastal's lead never dipped below 14 as the Chanticleers ran away with a 69-53 victory.
COASTAL LEADERS
Kristin Williams continued her relentless scoring stretch, posting 17 points while shooting 6-11 to lead the team.
Tracey Hueston added 13 points to go along with eight rebounds while
Kinsea Grimes also provided 13 points
. As a team, Coastal shot 46-percent from the field and 40-percent from long-range while making 17 of 23 free throw attempts.
