HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Behind a strong outing from starting pitcher Scott Doran, Coastal Carolina defeated Ole Miss 9-2 on Sunday in the Chanticleers' final game of this weekend's BRUCE BOLT College Classic at Daikin Park.
Doran turned in another impressive performance on the mound, tossing six innings while allowing just two runs on four hits and striking out five. With the victory, the right-hander improved to 3-0 on the season. Darin Horn closed out the game to earn the save, providing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three.
The Chanticleers provided timely offense throughout the afternoon, scoring in five different innings. Dean Mihos went 2-for-5 at the plate and drove in two runs, marking the seventh multi-hit performance of the season for the senior. Trace Mazon also recorded two RBIs, finishing 2-for-5 on the day with a double.
With the win, Coastal Carolina improves to 7-4 on the season.
The Chanticleers will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Raleigh, N.C., to take on NC State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on ACC Network+.
