BUIES CREEK, N.C. – A two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Campbell to a 4-3 win over Coastal Carolina on Tuesday night.
Despite being held to just one hit, the Chanticleers battled back to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the ninth. Blake Barthol delivered a sacrifice fly to score Harlon Cruz and even the score.
In the bottom half of the inning, Campbell capitalized with runners on second and third. With two outs, the Camels' Mike Murphy drove a single up the middle to plate the game-winning run.
Trace Mazon recorded the lone hit of the night for Coastal with a single in the fifth inning. The Chanticleers showed patience at the plate, drawing 10 walks and reaching base three additional times via hit-by-pitch.
With the loss, Coastal Carolina drops to 13-7 overall while remaining 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Chanticleers will return home this weekend for a three-game conference series against James Madison. First pitch for Friday's series-opener is set for 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
