Tucker Frawley, a standout catcher with the Chanticleers from 2009-12, is in his first season serving as the student assistant coach.
Frawley was the 2011-12 Big South Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was voted first team Academic All-America as he graduated magna cum laude in 2012 with a degree in physics, posting a perfect 4.0 GPA in seven semesters during his career and finishing with a 3.94 grade-point average. He was a two-time Academic All-District selection, a two-time member of the Big South Baseball All-Academic Team and the 2012 Big South Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year
In addition to academic success, Frawley was one of the nation's top catchers. He was a semifinalist for the 2012 Johnny Bench Award, which goes to the nation's top collegiate catcher, and was drafted in the eighth round by the Toronto Blue Jays. He earned first team All-Big South honors in 2012 as he threw out 25 of 51 base runners (49 percent) and also picked off seven runners as Coastal Carolina led the Big South in pickoffs. He reached base safely in 52 of 60 games played, caught an amazing 89.8 percent of the innings this season and handled a young pitching staff that led the NCAA in ERA seven times during the 2012 campaign, finishing third nationally. At the plate, Frawley batted .296 with 25 runs scored, 27 RBI and posted a .411 on-base percentage.
He helped the Chanticleers win four straight Big South regular-season and tournament titles and was a part of the 2010 team that was the #4 national seed to the NCAA Championship and advanced to host the 2010 NCAA Super Regional. For his career, Frawley played in 142 games with 104 starts and posted a .275 batting average.
