• Also caught 16 passes for 374 yards and six touchdowns
• Helped the Black Bears to a 12-1 record and a trip to the 6A quarterfinals
• Scored twice in the 51-50 overtime loss in the quarterfinal while totaling 160 rushing yards
• Was the featured back and was named second-team all-state by the Alabama Sports Writers Association as a junior
• Rushed for 1,597 yards and 22 touchdowns his junior season
• Led his team to a 10-4 record and the semifinals of the Class 6A playoffs
• Also lettered in track & field
• Was part of Austin High School's Class 6A state championship 4x100 relay team as a junior
