Sands brings a proven track record of developing elite running back talent and contributing to successful offenses. He coached NFL draft picks Mike Davis and Marcus Lattimore while serving as running backs coach at South Carolina under Hall of Fame head coach Steve Spurrier, where he also helped recruit five ESPN Top-300 prospects and contributed to multiple bowl victories and double-digit win seasons. Sands later helped guide UTSA’s running backs during the program’s first two bowl appearances, including a 2,100-plus-yard rushing season from his backfield. Earlier in his career at The Citadel, he coached multiple Southern Conference all-conference performers. A Citadel Hall of Famer and four-time All-SoCon running back, Sands combines high-level recruiting experience with player development expertise.
