Scott joins the Chanticleers after serving as defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Missouri State from 2023 through 2025, following three seasons coaching the Bears’ defensive line.
During Missouri State’s transition to the FBS in 2025, Scott’s defense produced multiple postseason honorees, including Conference USA All-Freshman Team selection Dezmond Barnes, while helping eight total Bears earn All-CUSA recognition across the roster.
Scott’s defensive units consistently emphasized physicality and disruption. In 2024, Missouri State ranked among the national leaders in sacks per game, finished top-25 nationally in turnover margin, and top-30 in total takeaways, helping six defenders earn postseason honors.
“I’m excited to join Coastal Carolina and get to work,” Scott said. “Having worked with Coach Beard, I know the standard and intensity he expects. We’re going to play fast, physical, and with relentless effort. Our defense will fly to the football, be disciplined, and take a lot of pride in how we compete every snap.”
Scott brings extensive experience as both a player and coach along the defensive line. He played collegiately at Louisville, where he was a member of the Cardinals’ defensive front before earning his degree. Following his college career, Scott also spent time playing professionally in the Canadian Football League with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. His playing background has carried over into an emphasis on technique, toughness, and development in the trenches throughout his coaching career.
Scott’s collegiate coaching stops include Louisville, Western Kentucky, and Arkansas prior to joining Missouri State.
