2010 (Jr.): In an effort to take advantage of his athleticism, made the move to tight end to get him on the field, serving as a backup quarterback as well ... Played in all 12 games, starting six ... Did not attempt a pass, but had two rushes for 15 yards while under center (one-yard carry at Presbyterian and 14-yard rush at VMI) ... Caught 19 passes for 218 yards, ranking sixth on the team, with a touchdown ... Opened the season catching five passes for 58 yards ... With fellow tight end David Duran ailing, Childers caught three passes for 67 yards versus Western Illinois in the NCAA playoff game ... Had a 12-yard touchdown reception in the Charleston Southern game.
2009 (So.): Played in nine games, starting three (Towson, North Carolina A&T and Clemson) ... Completed 27-of-53 passes for 289 yards with six interceptions and three touchdowns ... Also, rushed 49 times for 163 yards with three scores ... Came off the bench to rush seven times for 54 yards with a TD, while completing all five passes for 38 yards ... Also had rushing TDs verus North Carolina A&T and Stony Brook ... Best game through the air was versus Towson, completing 9-of-13 for 110 yards and a score ... Other passing touchdowns came versus Liberty and Charleston Southern.
2008 (RFr): Played in just six games as a reserve after sitting out most of the preseason drills due to illness, but still earned his first letter ... Rushed 22 times for 61 yards and one touchdown and was 6-of-17 for 47 yards and one score passing ... Had a season-high 21 yards rushing on seven carries and was 6-of-12 for 47 yards and one touchdown against Charleston Southern ... His effort against the Bucs included a 32-yard run and a 47-yard completion, both season bests ... Scored his only rushing touchdown against Liberty.
2007 (Fr.): Redshirted the season and retained the year of eligibility ... Enrolled at Coastal Carolina University for the 2007 spring semester and participated in spring drills ... Rated 37th top prep player by Rivals.com.
Prior to Coastal Carolina: Played at Hargrave Military Academy in Fall 2006 ... Threw for more than 1,300 yards, 13 touchdowns and just one interception with a 67-percent completion rate while splitting time with two other quarterbacks ... Also added more than 500 yards and five touchdowns on the ground ... Was on the Commandant[apos]s List (3.75+ GPA) ... High School: Finished his career with more than 4,500 career passing yards and 41 touchdowns, posting a 25-7 record as a starter... Was 119-of-191 for almost 1,900 yards and 18 touchdowns (just two interceptions) through the air while adding 800 rushing yards and nine touchdowns his senior season at Wando in the school[apos]s run-first system ... Earned High School Sports Report SCISA All-State honors, Honorable Mention All-State accolades from The State, First Team All-Lowcountry and a spot in the 2005 SCADA North-South All-Star Game ... As a junior had 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns passing with just over 500 rushing yards and six touchdowns, leading the squad to the Lower State final and the program[apos]s first-ever playoff wins in school history ... Also played baseball at Wando, hitting .335 with four home runs and 20 RBI his final season, helping the Warriors to a 27-3 record, Region 7-AAAA title and No. 13 ranking in the country by USA Today ... Earned a place on the Honor Roll.
