Donald Clement

    Head Men's Golf Coach
Donald Clement is in his third year as the head coach of the men's and women's golf programs at Coastal Carolina University in 1999-2000. He also serves as the director of internships for Coastal Carolina's Cooperative Golf Management program. In this role, Clement works with local professionals to aid the University's aspiring golf professionals.

In the fall of 1995, Clement returned to his alma mater as the director of internships for the Cooperative Golf Management program and served two years as the Chanticleers' assistant coach.

In his two seasons as head coach, the men's and women's programs have combined for three Big South Conference championships, 12 all-conference honorees, a Big South Player of the Year, and a Big South Rookie of the Year.

In 1998-99, coach Clement led the men's program to its third-straight Big South crown and was tabbed the Big South Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season in men's golf.

As a first-year head coach in 1997-98, Clement led both the men's and women's programs to win the Big South Championship and was tabbed the Big South Coach of the Year in both men's and women's golf. In addition, the men's squad broke five school records during the season.

The Lexington, S.C., native is a 1986 graduate of Coastal Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He led the Chanticleer golf program to national prominence in 1985 as he placed fifth individually and helped the team place third nationally in the NAIA National Championships.

In 1986, he was named to the first Big South all-conference team and helped the team gain invitations to both the NCAA and NAIA national championship tournaments.

Prior to transferring to Coastal Carolina, Clement earned an associate's degree in business administration from Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, S.C. 

From 1990-95, Clement served as the head golf pro at Blackmoor Golf Club in Murrells Inlet, S.C. He also served as the assistant golf pro at Pawley's Plantation from 1988-90 and The Dunes Golf and Beach Club from 1986-88.

In February of 1996, Clement was inducted into the Coastal Carolina University Athletic Hall of Fame.

He and his wife, Debbie, reside in Pawley's Island and have one daughter, Autumn.
