Jeremy Alcorn enters his second season as Coastal Carolina men's golf assistant coach in 2018-19.
Alcorn helped Coastal have a historic year in 2017-18. The team cruised to the 2018 Sun Belt Championship and advanced to the NCAA Kissimmee Regional, the Chanticleers first trip to the NCAA's since 2011. Morgan Deneen won the Sun Belt individual title, was voted the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and named first-team all-Sun Belt, while Luis Ruiz (second team) and Thadd Obecny II (third team) were tabbed all-Sun Belt as well.
For the year, Coastal's scoring average was 289.806 (third-best in school history), while the team's 3.1221 average on par 3's was a CCU record. Also, CCU's 36 rounds of par or better ranked second on the CCU single-season list, the 4.1935 scoring on par 4's was third, the 523 birdies was fourth and the 4.8938 scoring average on par 5's was 11th.
Prior to join Coastal Carolina, Alcorn helped Texas Tech to three-straight NCAA Regional appearances (2015, 2016 and 2017). The Red Raiders reached the NCAA Championship in 2015 after placing second in the NCAA Lubbock Regional that season.
In 2017, the Red Raiders produced three PING All-Central Region team picks and had eight players named academic all-Big 12. In Alcorn's three years in Lubbock, not only did Tech earn three NCAA postseason berths, but the team finished third, second and fourth, respectively, at the Big 12 Championships.
Before entering his coaching profession, Alcorn played on the Adams Golf Pro Tour. In fact, he was a medalist in his first professional tournament on the Adams Tour, winning the 2009 Jamie Hilton Hillcrest Children's Golf Classic at Twin Rivers Golf Club (Waco, Texas). He won the tournament on the first playoff hole to finish at 9-under par (70-70-68-71=279).
Alcorn also worked a couple of seasons as a caddie on the PGA Tour, most notably for Brice Garnett.
A four-year letterwinner at Baylor from 2003-07, Alcorn won four tournaments, including three his sophomore year (2004-05) to tie a school record for individual victories in a season while being named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month twice that year. His 71.76 stroke average led the Bears that season and was third in the Big 12 Conference to help him earn first-team all-Big 12 honors and be an honorable mention PING All-America selection.
He finished his collegiate career with 11 top-5 finishes (third-best on the Baylor all-time list), 17 top-10 finishes (fourth-best) and 133 career rounds played (fourth-best).
Alcorn received his B.S. in education from Baylor in 2009. He is married to the former Ashleigh Gunning, who is a former Chanticleer women's soccer player and a member of the CCU Sasser Athletics Hall of Fame.
