Tom Brennan is entering his eighth season as the head coach of both the men's and women's golf programs at Coastal Carolina University in 1996-97.

Since coming to Coastal, both the men's and women's programs have taken great strides towards establishing themselves as a power in the very competitive NCAA District III North.

With over 80 championship golf courses in Myrtle Beach area, coach Brennan's student-athletes have an abundance of practice facilities and opportunities to play some of the top courses in the nation.

As the men's coach, Brennan has coached two Big South Conference Players of the Year and 12 All-Big South Conference selections.

On the women's side, he led the Chanticleers to the 1992 Big South Championships. He has also mentored one conference Player of the Year and 22 all-conference honorees in the women's program.

In addition to leading the Chanticleer golf programs, Brennan is also very active in the NCAA and the community. He served as the Chairman of the NCAA District III North Advisory Committee in 1994-95 and was on the advisory committee to select NCAA District III North players to compete for the United States when it faced Japan in June in 1995. He also serves as the director of the Myrtle Beach Junior Golf program, a position he has held since 1989.

Prior to coming to Coastal Carolina, Brennan began his career in 1962 as the head coach at the State University of New York at Oswego. In his 28 years at Oswego, he guided the program to 15 consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III Championships, coached 15 All-Americans, and won 15 consecutive S.U.N.Y. Conference Championships.

His work with the NCAA includes serving as the National Chairman of the Division III NCAA Golf Selection Committee for District II. He has also been a member of the NCAA Division II All-American Golf Selection Committee, the NCAA Division III Rules Committee, and the NCAA National Executive Golf Committee.
