- 1996 graduate of Logan High School (W. Va.)
- Won the 1996 AAA State Championship his senior season, the first individual to win the award in Logan High School history
- A three-time conference champion
- Named the 1994 West Virginia Junior Amateur Player of the Year
- Placed in the top-10 in six of the seven state amateur events he played in
- Has recorded two holes-in-one and a double eagle
- Owns three course records, including a 59 (27-32) on his home course in West Virginia
