Akeem Wiliams returned to the Coastal Carolina women's basketball program as an assistant coach in October of 2021.
In the summer of 2021, he accepted the head assistant position at UT Tyler (D2) men's basketball program.
In April 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Williams started his own player development company, PWR VSN, LLC. Williams trained NBA players Carsen Edwards, Jalen Lecque, and many others plus overseas professionals.
Williams joined the Coastal Carolina women’s basketball program as the video coordinator in November of 2019. He broke down film for coaches and film study in the historic 2019-20 season for the Chanticleers women's program.
Williams oversees all the video aspects of the women’s basketball program, including but not limited to, filming games and practices; breaking down film, preparing scouts of opponents, assisting with the management of the programs social media accounts, assisting with the graphics and mail-outs for recruiting, showcasing various team events, creating hype videos for the team, and all other duties assigned by the staff.
Before joining Coastal, Williams was an assistant coach for Satria Muda of the National Basketball League, where he created game plans, practice plans, and individual skill development charts.
In the 2018-19 season, Williams worked as an assistant video coordinator and assistant player development coach with the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). While with the Suns, he coordinated and charted the development of the players in individual and group settings as well as managing playbook related projects, film edits, practice plans, and game scouts. At the age of 23, Williams was the youngest video coordinator in the history of the NBA.
In June of 2019, Williams worked with over 20 NBA Draft-eligible athletes, including Jordan Caroline, Cody and Caleb Martin, Matur Maker, and Keldon Johnson.
Williams received a bachelor’s degree in University Studies from Dickinson State in May of 2018 while playing on the men’s basketball team as a point guard and team captain.
