Carrie Patterson is in her sixth season on the women's soccer coaching staff at Coastal Carolina in 2019. Patterson was promoted to associate head coach following the 2018 season after finishing her fifth year as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level.

In 2019, Patterson helped to tutor United Soccer Coaches All-Region and All-Sun Belt picks Sunny Sigurvinsdottir and Hannah Miller, as the Chants went 7-9-2 overall with five of their seven wins coming in Sun Belt Conference play. Seven different players notched at least one goal on the season led by Sigurvinsdottir and Miller tying for the team-high with six goals apiece as the Chants finished in a tie for fourth overall in the regular-season standings.

In 2018, the Chanticleers finished the season at 8-8-1 overall and third in the Sun Belt with a 7-3 conference record. The Chants posted a pair of three-match winning streaks on the season including three-straight in conference play over Louisiana (Oct. 5), ULM (Oct. 7), and Georgia Southern (Oct. 12). Transfer Hannah Miller, who led the team in points (12), goals (5), and assists (2), was named the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Sun Belt second team.

The Chants played their way to a second-place finish for the second-straight year in the 2017 Sun Belt Championship tournament. Coastal finished in a tie for sixth overall in the regular season and made a run to the Sun Belt Tournament championship match with tournament wins over Texas State (2-1) and Georgia Southern (4-1). The Chanticleers won 11 games (11-8-1) and went 4-5-1 in conference play, while Patterson worked with Daniella Famili who was named to the All-Sun Belt second team and went on to be named third-team All-South Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

In 2016, Coastal played its first season in the Sun Belt but the recent trend of success continued. The Chanticleers won 12 matches for the second-straight season (12-6-3), placed second overall in the regular-season standings, and reached the Sun Belt Tournament championship match. Three Chants earned all-conference honors while Daniella Famili and Amber Adams were both named All-South Region.

Patterson helped the women's program take a step forward in its progression in 2015 as Coastal posted its most wins (12) since 2008, advanced to the Big South Tournament semifinals for the second consecutive season, and tied for second-place during the regular season, matching the 2014 campaign. For the second-straight season, Patterson assisted head coach Paul Hogan in helping him capture the league's Coach of the Year award, while freshman Kayla Christian became the fourth Chanticleer to garner the league's Freshman of the Year award. As a team, CCU ranked second in the Big South during the regular season (7-2-1).

In 2014, Coastal posted 11 wins, advanced to the Big South Tournament semifinals for the first time in seven seasons, and tied for second-place during the regular season, its best finish since 2010. Patterson assisted head coach Paul Hogan in helping him capture the league's Coach of the Year award, while senior forward Kacey Kelley became the first Chanticleer to earn NSCAA All-Region honors and the second to be selected as the Big South Player of the Year. As a team, CCU ranked second in the Big South during the regular season in fewest goals allowed, not surrendering more than one in any of its 11 conference games, and was third in goals scored.

Patterson came to Coastal from the University of Missouri where she spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons as the director of women's soccer operations. In her role with the Tigers, Patterson helped with all facets of the day-to-day aspects of the program, including spearheading the team's travel and gameday operations.

In addition to her work at CCU, Patterson also coached at Sporting Columbia, S.C., where she was the competitive coach for the U12 Academy team, an assistant coach with the U18 Girls squad, and a provider of private lessons.

Patterson was an All-American player at Georgia from 2006-09. She was a four-time All-Southeastern Conference first team selection and earned All-America second team honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Soccer Buzz in 2007. In 2006, Patterson took home SEC Freshman of the Year honors and was a Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American. She still stands as the Bulldogs' all-time leader in points, goals, and multiple-goal games and ranks second in career assists.

Following her collegiate playing days, Patterson was drafted by the Philadelphia Independence of the Women's Professional Soccer League in 2010. She then signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the W-League in 2011, where she helped the squad advance to the Final Four.

She also spent one year coaching at Atlanta's Tophat Soccer Club, where Patterson played club soccer growing up. With Tophat, she was the Academy program's game coach, conducted training sessions, and gave private lessons.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Patterson earned a bachelor's degree in marketing with a minor in Spanish from Georgia's Terry College of Business in 2010. She completed her master's degree in educational, school and counseling psychology from Missouri in 2014.
