Jacori Greer came to Coastal Carolina’s defensive staff in early 2025 and serves as defensive run game coordinator and defensive line coach.
 
Greer spent 2024 at Louisiana Tech, coaching the defensive line under CCU defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson.
 
Louisiana Tech’s 2024 defense finished the season as the No. 12 ranked total defense in the nation, allowing just 308.4 yards per game. The ranking is a 98-place improvement over where they finished in 2023 (110). Johnson’s group also showed a 91-place improvement in scoring defense, going from 117 to No. 26 and 88-place bump in rushing defense, going from 132 to No. 44.

Greer’s defensive line combined for 177 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in 2023. The Bulldog defensive line played a role in one of the conference’s best passing defenses as Tech allowed just 185.3 yards per contest to rank second among all CUSA schools and 18th nationally. Senior Deshon Hall ranked among the top-15 of CUSA defensive lineman in total sacks with 3.5 on the season. Rason Williams II and Jessie Evans also made themselves known to opposing quarterbacks with 2.5 sacks apiece. Zion Nason had a breakout season with 35 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Greer arrived in Ruston after spending the 2020-22 seasons as the defensive line coach at Texas State.

During Greer’s time in San Marcos he helped defensive lineman Nico Ezidore earned Third-Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors after recording 66 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.

Prior to Texas State after Greer served three years in a similar role at Abilene Christian. In 2019, Abilene Christian ranked 10th nationally in team sacks with 36. One of Greer’s defensive linemen, Temisan Kuyatsemi, ranked among the top 20 NCAA Division I FCS leaders after averaging 0.77 sacks per game (8.5 sacks in 11 games). The Wildcats averaged 3.09 sacks (34 in 11 games) in 2018 to rank among the top eight FCS teams in the country.  
 
Greer also produced a pair of All-Southland Conference defensive linemen in 2019 and another two Honorable Mention selections in 2018 and 2019. Defensive tackle Cole Burgess was named Third-Team All-SLC after he tallied 35 tackles (16 unassisted), 9.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and three quarterback hurries. He also forced and recovered a fumble and broke up one pass. Kameron Hill was named a Third-Team All-SLC defensive end after he tallied 24 tackles, 16 solo stops, 9.0 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and six quarterback hurries.
 
Burgess and Dante Hibbert were tabbed Honorable Mention All-SLC in 2018. Burgess recorded 6.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one force fumble, and one fumble recovery. Hibbert had 38 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks. They helped ACU rank third in the SLC in total, scoring and rushing defense. They also were second among league leaders in third-down defense and had the league’s best defense on fourth downs.
 
Greer went to ACU after serving two seasons as a defensive line coach at New Mexico Highlands and a season as a defensive graduate assistant at SMU in 2013.

He joined SMU’s coaching staff after spending six years at New Mexico, where he was a player and a graduate assistant coach. He went to New Mexico as a freshman in 2009, and after sitting out that season as a redshirt, he played four years on the defensive line. He was an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention selection in 2012 before serving as a team captain as a senior.
 
A native of Dallas, Greer joined the Lobos’ coaching staff as a graduate assistant before following Archie McDaniel to SMU and serving a graduate assistant for the Mustangs in 2015.
 
Greer earned a bachelor’s degree in intercultural communications at New Mexico in 2013 and a master’s degree in sports administration from New Mexico in 2014.

Greer married Nicole Johnson, a mechanical engineer at Apple, on May 25, 2024.
