Box Score Women's Soccer Down High Point, 2-1 CONWAY, S.C.— The Coastal Carolina University women's soccer team earned a win at the CCU Soccer Stadium by beating High Point 2-1 Monday night. This was their second win of the season, and their first win at home.
High Point (2-7-1 Overall, 1-4 Big South) took a quick lead in only the second minute of play when Tiffany Impson headed Carry Muscolina's corner kick past the Chanticleer goalkeeper Candice Doten. But in the 33rd minute of play Jennifer Tafel found the back of the net on an unassisted effort in the box, as the teams went to the half tied.
Laura DiRenzo put the Lady Chants (2-8-2 Overall, 1-3 Big South) ahead to stay, as she headed the ball past High Point goalkeeper Cindy Watts in the 72nd minute. Jill DeLano served into the middle of the box on a corner kick, where Marissa Kovacs got her head on it to flick the ball to the on coming DiRenzo. This goal proved to be the game winner as Coastal dominated the rest of the play.
The Lady Chants' host Radford on Saturday at 3:00pm at the CCU Soccer Stadium, this will be the second game of a double-header, as the men host Radford at 1:00 pm.
