Women's Tennis Bow Out to Defending National Champions

CONWAY, SC — Coastal Carolina University's women's tennis team was welcomed into its first ever NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs. For the Lady Chanticleers, the loss ends a spectacular season as the squad posted a 20-2 overall record.
Georgia, ranked third in the nation and the only team to have all six players ranked nationally, took the doubles point by winning the number two and three spots. The Bulldogs then rolled through the bottom half of the singles competition to take the victory. Coastal's top three players - Emma Kidd, Medina Bajrambasic and Lara Lendenmann - each trailed by a set in their singles competitions when play was halted.
SINGLES - #1. Emma Kidd (CCU) and Aarthi Venkatesan, DNF; #2. Medina Bajrambasic (CCU) and Mariel Verban, DNF; #3. Lara Lendenmann (CCU) and Anne Nguyen, DNF; #4. Agata Ciovoch (UGA) defeated Dana Goffin, 6-0, 6-0; #5. Lori Grey (UGA) defeated Kamla Palmer, 6-0, 6-0; #6 Tina Hojnik (UGA) defeated Danielle Painter, 6-0, 6-0.
DOUBLES - #1. Kidd/Lendenmann (CCU) and Venkatesan/Grey, DNF; #2. Hojnik/Ciovoch (UGA) defeated Bajrambasic/Goffin, 8-2; #3. Verban/Christa Grey (UGA) defeated Painter/Palmer, 8-1
