Men and Women Win Coastal Carolina Invitational

Oliveria and Janssen Win Respective Events
Janssen had a time of 18:03.98 in winning her first event of the season. Other Coastal women standouts include fellow freshmen Felicitas Mensing (Neuhausen, Germany/Leplergy Secondary School) and Estelle Oberson (Geneva, Switzerland/Emilie Gourd) who placed third and fourth with times of 18:36.21 and 18:39.79, respectively.
Junior Danielle Hagler (Beach Haven, N.J./Southern Regional) and sophomore Aubrey Bergquist (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) also finished in the top-10 for Coastal with an eighth place (19:42.57) and 10th place finish (20:04.53), respectively.
For the Coastal men, Oliveira won his first event of the season with a time of 25:54.27. Five other Coastal men finished in the top-10 as junior Doug Currie (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia Northern) placed second (25:54.70), senior Justin Foxworth (Georgetown, S.C./Georgetown) finished fourth (26:27.07), sophomore Blair Paul (Queenston, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill) was sixth (27:28.27), sophomore Jake Morris (Aiken, S.C./Aiken) was seventh (27:35.09), senior Korey Larson (Sanbam, N.Y./Niagra Wheatfield (Erie CC) finished ninth (27:43.30) and senior Johnny Mitchell (Duncan, S.C./Byrnes) placed 10th (27:57.60).
The women and the men teams both won the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The women had an average time of 19:01.42 in capturing first place while the men had an average time of 26:39.88.
Coastal Carolina's cross country teams next are in action at the Great American Race on September 24 in Cary, N.C.
