Baseball's Verrett Named to All-Big South Academic Team

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University baseball senior Aaron Verrett (Jupiter, Fla./Polk C.C.) was named to the 2006 Big South All-Academic Team, it was announced prior to the Chanticleers opening game in the Bojangle’s Big South Tournament versus High Point.
Verrett, who has a 3.51 grade-point-average in health promotions, has played in 45 games, 42 of them starts, for Coastal. He is hitting .245 with six doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI, while his average improves to .275 in Big South games. Verrett went 3-for-4 against Birmingham-Southern April 15 and had back-to-back two-hit performances against High Point March 18-19. He was a member of the 2005 All-Big South Tournament Team and was a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week after hitting three home runs in the tournament, including a walk-off home run in the first championship game against Winthrop.
Coastal (29-24), the third seed in the tournament, faces fourth-seeded High Point tonight at 7 p.m.
