TOLEDO, OHIO -- The Coastal Carolina men's golf team dropped two spots to finish in fourth at the Inverness Intercollegiate, Sept. 11-12. The 54-hole event, hosted by the University of Toledo, was played at the Inverness Club (Par 71 - 7,255 Yards) in Toledo, Ohio. The Chanticleers were in second after an opening round 299 and shot 303 in the tough conditions to finish the first 36 holes at 602. However the entire final day was played in a driving rain and the Chanticleers could not hold on and fell two spots after a final round 299 to finish the 54 holes at 901. Southern California took home the team title with a three-round total of 896, three shots better than runner-up TCU at 899 and four better than Florida in fourth at 900 Senior Dustin Johnson (Lexington, S.C./Dutch Fork) led the Chanticleers, shooting an even-par 71 in the final round to finish in fourth at 220. Junior Zack Byrd (Calabash, N.C./Byrd Academy) moved up 13 places in the final round to a tie for ninth at 225, while junior Lindsay Renolds (Christina Lake, British Columbia/Heritage Academy (S.C.)) tied for 25th at 230. The Chanticleers take almost a full month off and are back in action Mon.-Tue., Oct. 9-10 at the Duke Golf Classic. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C., and Coastal finished in a tie for second last year, one shot behind host Duke. Team Results Scores 1.
