Baseball Trio Ranked in Nation's Best by Rivals.com
CONWAY, S.C. – Three Coastal Carolina University baseball players have been named to the Rivals.com Fall Power Rankings, the website announced recently. Senior Tommy Baldridge (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill) was ranked as the third best outfielder in the country. The website adds “Even with outstanding numbers last season, Baldridge still somewhat flew under the radar.” Baldridge was a First Team All-Region selection, an All-Big South First Team honoree and the Big South Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2007. Junior David Sappelt (Saxapahaw, N.C./Southern Alamance) was listed as the sixth best outfielder. The website says “The Chanticleers have two of the nations top outfielders and Sappelt is one of them.” Sappelt was the Big South Player of the Year and a Third Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. Junior Bobby Gagg (Hamburg, N.J./Wallkill) was named the country’s 14th best pitcher by the website. Rivals added “After hosting a regional last season, Gagg hopes to carry the Chanticleers to better places.” Gagg was the Big South Pitcher of the Year and a Second Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. Coastal is wrapping up the fall workouts with games four and five of the Chanticleer World Series this Friday and Saturday.
