Men's Basketball Loses Harris For the Season

CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina's men's basketball squad has lost junior forward Joseph Harris (Lejeune, N.C./Lejeune) for the year with a torn ligament in his left thumb, head coach Cliff Ellis announced tonight.
Harris, who was leading the team and ranked third in the league at 7.9 rebounds a game, suffered the injury in the second half of the UNC Wilmington game, Dec. 9, but finished the game. He will have surgery on the thumb later this week and, due to new NCAA rules on medical redshirts, will be eligible to be medically redshirted and retain two years of eligibility, starting next season.
The Chanticleers are off for finals this week and will return to the court Sat., Dec. 15 at Canisius, with tip-off scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
