Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at SunTrust Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, FLA. -- The Coastal Carolina men's golf team moved up one spot in the final round to finish fourth at the 2007 SunTrust Gator Invitational, Feb. 10. The 54-hole event was played at the University of Florida Golf Course (Par 70 - 6,701 Yards) in Gainesville, Fla., Feb. 10-11.
Coastal shot 10-over 290 in the final round and overtook Georgia Southern, finishing in fourth at 864. Host Florida won the event by 11 shots with a three-round total of 10-over 850, while Florida State was runner-up at 861. Wake Forest finished in third at 862.
Senior Dustin Johnson and junior Zack Byrd led the Chanticleers, each finishing in a tie for seventh at three-over 213. Johnson shot a final round one-under 69, while Byrd had the best round of the tournament for the Chants with a three-under 67 in the second round. Junior Lindsay Renolds was next for Coastal at 218, good for a tie for 29th.
Coastal Carolina is back on the course in a week, competing at the John Hayt Collegiate, Sun.-Tue., Feb. 18-20. The 54-hole event will be played at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
