CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina's volleyball team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end  Saturday afternoon as the Lady Chanticleers lost to Presbyterian 3-1 at Kimbel Arena, Sept. 29. Game scores were 28-30, 24-30, 32-30, 17-30.

"Despite Brett Starbucks'  (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) efforts in the back and Jill Nyhof's (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) offensive power, Presbyterian still dominated the match," Head Coach Kristen Bauer said. "They had a fast offense that kept us off our game."

Coastal (10-8, 2-0) fell victim to late Presbyterian (15-4) runs in games one and two. The Lady Chants kept the match alive by taking game three. Trailing 29-26, Nyhof had a crucial kill that started a three-point Coastal run. The Lady Chants evened the score at 29-29 off a bad set from Rachel Lewis. The Blue Hose took a one point lead off a Kelsey McKee kill. Freshman Megan Bickford (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) tied at game 30 with a kill and then Coastal took a 31-30 lead off an attack error by Amanda Kettles. Coastal got its game-winning kill from junior Kristin Wolf (Andover, Kan./Andover Central).

Although Coastal opened the final game with a pair of service aces from freshman Chelsy Kimes (Munster, Ind.), game four was all Presbyterian. The Blue Hose took advantage of 12 Coastal errors and outhit the Lady Chants .379 to .022.

Nyhof led Coastal with a season-high 26 kills and hit .340. She also totaled three solo blocks, which ties her career-high, and was part of two block assists. Starbuck had a match-high of 24 digs and a perfect service reception percentage with 16 serves received. Both Kimes and sophomore Meagan Tracey (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) had a double-double. Kimes totaled 18 kills and 10 digs. Tracey had 52 assists and 17 digs.

Lauren Mason led the Blue Hose with a 26-kill and 17-dig double-double. Mason also hit a match-best .411. Elizabeth Heineman had 21 digs and Rachel Lewis added 45 assists.

Coastal returns to action on Friday when it travels to Radford. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Dedmon Center.
