Coastal Baseball in the Pros Update
Here is an update on the former Coastal Carolina University baseball players currently in professional baseball. Mike Costanzo is hitting .246 with eight home runs and 29 RBI for the Norfolk Tides of the International League, the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Costanzo had two home runs June 24 in a loss to Charlotte. He also has seven doubles and a triple on the season. Michael DeJesus currently is with the Chattanooga Lookouts, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. He is hitting .365 with five doubles, a home run and nine RBI. DeJesus went 2-for-4 against Jacksonville June 25. Dom Duggan is playing for San Jose, the High-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Duggan is hitting .221 with eight doubles and nine RBI. He also has three stolen bases. Andy DeLaGarza is 6-1 with a 3.35 earned-run average for Augusta, the Single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. DeLaGarza earned the win June 25 against Greenville, pitching a scoreless inning. He has 51 strikeouts in 48.1 innings of work. John Mariotti is 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA for Delmarva, the Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Mariotti has not pitched since April 26 against West Virginia, as he went seven innings with six strikeouts while picking up the win. Mariotti currently is on the disabled list for the Shorebirds. Austin Hinkle has a 2.45 ERA for Columbus, Tampa Bay’s Single-A affiliate. He struck out two batters in an inning of work against Savannah June 24 and has seven strikeouts in his last three outings. Travis Risser currently is with Hudson Valley, the Short Season-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Risser earned the win June 25 against Brooklyn, striking out one in 1.1 innings of work. Pete Andrelczyk is with Jamestown, the Short Season-A affiliate of the Florida Marlins. He has pitched in three games this season, earning saves in two of them. He struck out a batter in 1.1 innings, earning a save against Batavia June 25. Dock Doyle is hitting .263 with five RBI in five games for Kingsport, the Rookie affiliate of the New York Mets. Doyle drove in two runs at Bristol June 25. David Sappelt is hitting .412 with a double, a triple and five RBI in four games for Billings, the Short Season-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Sappelt was 3-for-6 with two RBI against Missoula June 25. Tommy Baldridge is hitting .333 with two doubles and two RBI for the Gulf Coast Yankees, the Rookie affiliate of the New York Yankees. Baldridge was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI June 25 against the GCL Phillies. Chris Raber is hitting .302 with six doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI for the Rockford Riverhawks of the Frontier League. Raber also has eight stolen bases in 11 attempts for the Riverhawks. Brett Grandstrand has 10 hits, including two home runs for the Washington Wildthings of the Frontier League. Grandstrand has seven RBI and a stolen base on the year. Matt Sutton is hitting .270 with seven doubles, three triples and three home runs for the Washington Wildthings of the Frontier League. Sutton has a .451 slugging percentage and a .331 on-base percentage in 32 games. Randy McGarvey is hitting .303 with five doubles, a home run and 16 RBI in 42 games for the Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League. McGarvey has a .397 on-base percentage for the Riversharks.
Luis Lopez is hitting .370 with 17 doubles, two triples and four home runs for the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League.
