Baseball Adds Gibson to Recruiting Class
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University baseball team and Head Coach Gary Gilmore have announced the signing of Casey Gibson (McAlester, Okla./McAlester (Eastern Oklahoma State College)) to a National Letter-of-Intent. Gibson becomes the ninth student-athlete to sign with Coastal baseball for the 2008-09 academic year. Gibson, an infielder/outfielder, hit .400 his sophomore season at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Okla. He had 22 doubles, nine triples, five home runs and 54 runs-batted-in for the Mountaineers, who went 41-18 on the season. Gibson was a Second Team All-Bi-State Conference selection and had 20 stolen bases in 24 attempts in 2008. Gibson was a four-year letterwinner at McAlesterHigh School, where he was an All-State selection in 2006 for the Buffaloes. He also was an Honor Roll Student at McAlester. Gibson joins Daniel Bowman (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby), Caleb Cuevas (Fletcher, N.C./West Henderson (Louisburg J.C.)), Steve Davis (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville), Brad Goldberg (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood), Anthony Meo (Cranston, R.I./Cranston West), Taylor Motter (North Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens), TJ Swank (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and Tommy Winegardner (St. Leonard, Md./Riverdale Baptist) in the 2008-09 class. Coastal ended the season tying a school record with 50 wins and advancing to its first-ever Super Regional. The Chants won the Big South regular-season and tournament titles, had 11 players on the All-Big South teams and went 3-0 at the NCAA Conway Regional.
