Women's Basketball Signs Four to National Letters-of-Intent

The Coastal Carolina University women's basketball program and Head Coach Alan LeForce have announced the signings of Katelyn Connor (Ashland, Ky./Paul Blazer), Kayla Cook (Jeannette, Pa./Jeannette), Shanika Maddox (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) and Alexx Puckett (Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) to National Letters-of-Intent, it was announced today.
"We are very pleased with our recruiting class," LeForce said. "We signed some good players that I think will fit into our program. They have good size and athletic ability. This might be one of our best recruiting classes we've had since I've been here."
Connor is a 6-2 forward that led the Ashland Blazer Kittens 14 points per game, eight rebounds per game, and 77 blocked shots last year. She was voted the Catspause,com number-one pre-season player. In her junior year, she made the 64th All-District tournament team, the 16th region All-Tournament team and the Ashland Daily All-Area Honors. She is a five year varsity letterwinner and a three-year starter.
Cook is the only guard of the signees. She was named to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Terrific 10 after leading the Jeanette Lady Jayhawks to their first PIAA playoff appearance. The 5-10 guard averaged 20.8 points per game and set a school record for points in a season by scoring 519 in her junior year. She has 1,299 career-points and is the school's all-time leading scorer.
Maddox was named to the Hoosier Crossroads All-Conference team and is in the Fishers high school record books for most rebounds in the season with 8.0 per game. The 6-1 center averaged 9.0 points per game., and 27 blocks her junior year, helping the team to a 19-3 record.
Puckett, a 6-1 forward, averaged 10 points per game, and helped the Braves to a state championship her freshman year. As a middle blocker on her volleyball team, she helped Brebeuf Jesuit win state championship last weekend.
